چکیده

Evaluation of the incidence of the leaf spot disease caused by the biotrophic pathogen Fusicladium oleagineum on two olive cultivars (Olea europaea L.) was carried out during six years (2009/2015) in groves located at Touiref (North West of Tunisia). The studies focused on Meski and Chetoui cultivars. The evaluated foliar incidence of disease was analyzed in relationship with some factors. Disease incidence varied greatly among the tow cultivars submitted to similar conditions. Meski is the susceptible olive cultivar grown but Chetoui is more resistant to these pathogen infections (R2 = 0.94). The obtained results revealed that disease incidence was correlated with the height of the trees (R2 = 0.80), with the direction (R2 = 0.82), with the leaf age (R2 = 0.78) and the relative humidity (R2 = 0.91). During our studies, we were attempted to collect the fallen leaves under trees to survey the development of the fungus Fusicladium oleagineum, but no sexual form was found.

Survey of Spilocaea oleagina, causal agent of olive leaf spot, in North of Iran

Olive leaf spot or peacock spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Spilocaea oleagina, can cause reduced growth and yield in olive trees (Olea eurapaea). Investigations were carried out during 20072010 to measure the prevalence and severity of olive leaf spot in the northern olive growing regions of Iran. The susceptibility of ten cultivars (Amygdalifolia, Blaidy, Koronakei, Mary, Manzanillo, Missi...

Resistance and vegetative growth analysis of some olive cultivars in response to a defoliating pathotype of Verticillium dahliae Kleb

Verticillium dahliae Kleb. the causal agent of vascular wilt is an important pathogen of olive trees in growing areas of the world. Nine-month-old nursery olives including ‘Bladi’, ‘Conservalia’, ‘Kalamon’, ‘Koroneiki’, ‘Manzanilla’, ‘Mission’, ‘Marry’, ‘Picual’, ‘Rowghani’, ‘Sevillana’ and ‘Zard’ cultivars were root-dip inoculated with a defoliating (VCG1) isolate of V. dahliae obtained from d...

Study of Biochemical and Molecular Changes of Iranian Rice Cultivars in Interaction with Bacterial Pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae Causes Leaf Blight Disease

Rice bacterial blight caused by Xanthamonos oryzae pv. oryzae is one of the most destructive bacterial diseases of rice in some areas of rice cultivation in the world, especially in the tropics of Asia. The low efficiency of disease management methods, especially chemical methods, has led to more research on recognizing resistant cultivars and understanding resistance mechanisms through the stu...

Evaluation of Biochemical and Physiological Responses of Seven Olive Cultivars in Relation to Freezing Tolerance

Abstract: Temperature is one of the most important factors limiting the production and distribution of olive. Different olive cultivars show diverse responses to low temperature and so, the selection of cold tolerant cultivars is the most effective method to avoid frost damages. The main purpose of this study was to compare freezing tolerance of seven olive cultivars and to investigate the rel...
